Gear Review: T-Rex Reptile Delay
Posted by mattd on July 10th, 2008 filed in ReviewsI confess, I’m a gear freak. My board is stuffed with delays, moogs, distortions, and other cool noise makers. My most recent addition to the collection has been the Reptile Delay pedal from T-Rex. This pedal replicates the old school echo-plex style delays and offers an awesome range of time delay and feedback capabilities. It lets you dial in the perfect delay for your use, whether it is a fast feedback response, or a slow clean repeat. The Reptile also features a cool modulation option that really lets you get trippy with your sound. I like to dial in about a 50% mix of modulation on some of my lead parts to get this cool “wobbly” effect on the notes.
Being that delays are the foundation of my guitar sound, I am very critical of what they can produce. Since I bought the Reptile it has taken over as my go to delay pedal on my board. The only setback to this pedal is the cost, which can be very pricey. For those looking for a high end delay and have the budget to get it, I highly recommend the T-Rex Reptile. After using this pedal I do not foresee myself needing a new delay for a very, very long time.
***Listen for the sound of the T-Rex Reptile featured on the upcoming single “Pieces” by Enter the Rooms, due for release fall 2008***
