Gear review – BOSS DD-5 Digital Delay
Posted by admin on July 3rd, 2008 filed in ReviewsDelay is a staple in the guitar sound of Enter the Rooms. In fact I never turn mine off. The Boss DD-5 is a great all around versatile delay pedal with a number of extras that you may or may not use all the time, but can add a nice touch when needed. Features include a 1ms to 200ms span of delay time, I have had pedals that exceed that but never actually used the functionality. Stereo out, sweet if you wanted to pan delay from multiple amps. Hold mode for sampling and looping, I never use this, the DD-3 has the same feature. You have to press your foot on the pedal to actually maintain the loop so its tough to recreate the sounds produced, especially on stage. If a looping recorder is what you seek look into the Akai Headrush digital and analog delay looping recorder. Its more suited to the loop recording aspect and loses points on the delays, but thats for another review… The Reverse mode on the DD-5 plays notes back to you in a backwards delay, really cool effect and have used it a few times. Most important feature of boss pedals is that they are tough and reliable. With a $125-$150 price range its a small cost for a great digital delay. Recommended.
